The Florida Supreme Court Historical Society is pleased to have the former United States Solicitor General Theodore "Ted" Olson as the keynote speaker at the 2019 Supreme Evening event.
This annual dinner event is hosted by the Florida Supreme Court Historical Society is Florida’s premier judicial event that will take place at the University Center Club in Tallahassee, on Thursday, February 7, 2019.
The event's keynote speaker, Mr. Ted Olson is one of the country’s most high-profile and widely respected litigators of the past 50 years. Mr. Olson has long been one of the nation’s go-to lawyers for complex criminal defense cases and has represented clients across the political and social spectrum from President George W. Bush in the 2000 election challenge to the same-sex marriage petitioners challenging California's Proposition 8 to New England Patriots quarterback, Tom Brady, in the Deflategate scandal.
His keynote presentation – “The Supreme Court of the United States, Present and Future” – will highlight Mr. Olson’s keen insights and first-hand experiences from his sixty-three arguments before SCOTUS in cases involving everything from the First Amendment to sports betting to voting rights and same-sex marriage .
Mr. Olson will be introduced by prominent and well respected trial and appellate attorney, Barry Richard, who is a shareholder at Greenberg Traurig and former co-counsel with Mr. Olson in Bush v. Gore.
Highlights of a Supreme Evening 2019 include:

- Welcoming of the three newly appointed Supreme Court Justices,
- Chief Justice Charles Canady’s update on the State of the Court
- The master of ceremonies for the evening, Hank Coxe will ensure we are adjourned by 9:15 PM.
