A Supreme Evening 2025: January 16th

Join us for A Supreme Evening 2025 on Thursday, January 16, in Tallahassee at the FSU Dunlap Champions Club, as we continue our proud tradition of hosting Florida's premier judicial event.

This year, dinner guests will enjoy a fireside chat hosted by Justice Jamie Grosshans with renowned Georgetown Law professor Randy Barnett. Randy BarnettAs the Patrick Hotung Professor of Constitutional Law at the Georgetown University Law Center and faculty director of the Georgetown Center for the Constitution, Barnett brings a wealth of knowledge and experience. His career includes significant litigation at the U.S. Supreme Court, most notably in Gonzales v. Raich and NFIB v. Sebelius, reflecting his deep commitment to constitutional law.

In this engaging discussion, Barnett will share insights from his latest memoir, “A Life for Liberty: The Making of an American Originalist,” which chronicles his journey from a felony prosecutor to a leading voice in legal thought.

The evening will also feature a “State of the Court” presentation by Chief Justice Carlos Muñiz, offering attendees perspectives on the judiciary’s current landscape. The FSCHS will also honor Florida State University Professor Emeritus Charles “Chuck” Ehrhardt with the Susan Rosenblatt Lifetime Achievement Award for his “outstanding contributions to legal education and scholarship.”

“We invite Florida’s legal community to join us for this must-attend event of the new year,” said Historical Society President Fred Karlinsky. “This is not just a celebration; it’s an opportunity to engage with leaders in our field and reflect on the judiciary’s vital role in our society.”

“Sponsorships and dinner reservations for A Supreme Evening help support the Historical Society’s mission to preserve the history of Florida’s highest court and educate the public about our court system,” Karlinsky added.

In addition to statewide recognition, sponsor benefits include reserved seats during the event; upgraded and premium-level memberships in the Historical Society; and receipts for possible tax deductions as charitable contributions.
